SafeSleep note

This checklist is a source synthesis, not a personal-use story or medical recommendation. It keeps accessories outside the infant sleep surface and links to the current guidance behind each step.

1

1. Prepare a separate, bare sleep space

Place the exact-model bassinet on the surface and in the location allowed by its manual. Use the supplied mattress or pad with only a properly fitted sheet. Keep pillows, blankets, toys, bumpers, wedges, positioners, and aftermarket padding out of the sleep area.

2. Keep sound equipment outside the bassinet

Hatch Baby is a sound-and-light device, not a sleep surface. Follow its placement and controls guidance and keep volume conservative. The AAP noise policy explains that infants and children can be harmed by excessive environmental noise; avoid positioning a speaker close to the baby's head.

3. Treat swaddling as time-limited

Place a swaddled infant on their back and stop swaddling when the baby shows signs of trying to roll. Follow the wearable product's size, fit, temperature, and closure instructions; do not add loose blankets to the sleep surface.

4. Do not elevate for reflux

AAP and NICHD guidance continues to recommend a firm, flat, noninclined sleep surface, including for infants with reflux. A wedge, rolled towel, positioner, or aftermarket pad is not part of this setup. Ask a pediatrician for individualized care without changing the sleep surface on your own.

5. Record labels and re-check limits

Photograph the model and date labels, register the product, save the current manual, and note the first stop-use milestone. Re-check CPSC before using a hand-me-down or moving the product back into service after storage.
